Insurance costs are con temptible says
deputy - Irish Independent (27/April/2001)

A 19-YEAR-OLD
with a full and clean driving licence was quoted £3,050 for insurance
cover for a vehicle worth £2,500, a Dail deputy said last night.
"This is contemptible treatment of young people," said Enda Kenny TD.
Last week he called for the appointment of an insurance ombudsman.
Mr Kenny explained: "I have been inundated with queries and examples of
just how young drivers are being treated by insurance companies."
Mr Kenny said six insurance companies refused to give a quote to the 19-year-old
driver from Castlebar.
All young people were being branded as "reckless speed merchants with
no sense of responsibility," Mr Kenny said.
Discrimination clearly exists in the motor insurance industry, he said.
