19-YEAR-OLD man can pay as much as €6,661 to get comprehensive insurance
for a car worth €7,618, according to a new survey highlighting age
and gender discrimination in the Irish car insurance market. The survey,
carried out by the Consumers' Association of Ireland (CAI), found that
while a 33-year-old woman can get third-party, fire and theft cover for
€661, a 19-year-old with the same, address, car and job pays as much
as €5,434 for the same cover. more...

as the latest Irish Independent car insurance survey clearly demonstrates,
it pays to shop around - hundreds, even thousands of euro can be saved
and benefits can differ greatly. What can only be described as massive

out a recent actuarial study he commissioned as evidence that motor insurers

A 19-YEAR-OLD with a full and clean driving licence was quoted £3,050
for insurance cover for a vehicle worth £2,500, a Dail deputy said last
night. "This is contemptible treatment of young people," said Enda Kenny

Young drivers in protest at high cost of insurance premiums - Irish

A CONVOY of 200 cars drove to Fianna Fail headquarters in Dublin at the
weekend to protest at high insurance premiums being charged to young drivers.
The Motor Insurance Justice Action Board (MIJAG), which organised the
car protest, is demanding first time drivers be charged the average premium
of £480, regardless of age. This follows the Motor Insurance Advisory
Board (MIAB) interim report which revealed how insurance companies make
