I just searched for motor insurance because Im at my wits end at this stage(I'll bet most of your e-mails start like this!).Im a 17 year old male with a provisional licence living in County Galway. Yes,there I admit it - by being 17 and male and with a provisional license I am supposedly the highest possible insurance bracket around. Before christmas I started taking a few lessons at £17 a go - safe in the knowledge that,after talking to my parents insurance broker I was told that for one years insurance on my mothers 97 1 litre VW Polo Id have to pay £600 - a figure not unreasonable at all. Instead of jumping straight in and getting on the road I said Id take a few more lessons and leave it till the spring time. So now here I am, its February 14th and Im told that insurance is not possible for me due to the fact that I must be getting insured on a 98 or newer car - a policy jsut after coming in. So, by showing a bit of maturity and holding out on insurance until my instructor had told me I was good enough to pass my test, I've now been punished and find myself without any chance of motor insurance. Words really just can't express how I feel about this situation. Is it a crime to want to be able to drive myself to soccer, or out to town to see my friends? Sorry to be taking up your time its just I really needed to say something to someone! I must commend your site - its a great idea and shows that not everyone is uncaring and non-cooporative when it comes to the plight of young drivers in this country.
