David
Green is the MIJAG candidate in the forthcoming general election.
David will be running in the Dublin Mid-West constituency against
Mary Harney amongst others. He is 21 years old and works as a General
Worker at the IBM plant in Mulhuddard. He has been active in the
Motor Insurance Justice Action Group (MIJAG) since it was set up
in December 1999.
David
pays €4,430 to insure his Honda Civic despite never having
a crash and a one year no claims bonus. David holds a full driving
licence and MIJAG took his case under the Equal Status Bill alleging
Age Discrimination.
If
elected, David has agreed to take his current wage from the Dáil
salary and use the rest of the money to fight court and other cases
in Ireland and Europe to sort out the car (and motorbike) insurance
rip-off in this country. He would be a constant reminder to the
powers that be that if this problem is not dealt with, other young
drivers will run in future elections.
